The Girl Child

The Girl Child
--------------------

Admist the rising dystopia, the girl child is born
Motherhood sleeps still, and the childhood lies torn
Father stands helpless,rich in despair
He see what is to be done, and knows the world does not care.

Oh my girl child will you survive,
Or Oh my girl child will you die,
You lie there bawling , the only language you know
The unspeakable has to be done, no matter how low

Father picks up the child looking everywhere avoiding her gaze
Big eyes on a round face, he walks around stumbling as if in a daze
The chile stops crying, momentarily curious by the strange face
She only sees the love, not the anger in his gaze

Oh my girl child will you survive,
Or Oh my girl child will you die,
You lie there bawling , the only language you know
The unspeakable has to be done no matter how low

He drowns her in water while she is asleep
Washing his hands of her, for she is god's to keep
The house he rinses in kerosene for the fire has to be deep
Sets fire to his house, walks in and goes to sleep

Oh my girl child forgive us for we donot care
Oh my poor mother forgive us for our morality is bare
Oh my young father forgive us for we donot care
3 in a billion is maybe too less to share.
